Built in Japan, for Japan
Lockheed Martin and Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) have partnered together to stand up the Final Assembly and Check-Out (FACO) facility for the F-35 Lightning II in Nagoya, Japan.
The Japanese FACO facility will perform the final assembly and check-out of 38 F-35 Lightning II aircraft to be delivered to the JASDF. The first four F-35s for the JASDF are being built at the Fort Worth, Texas, F-35 factory. The Lockheed Martin and MHI team is working together to complete the FACO facilities and install the equipment and tooling required to assemble and deliver F-35 aircraft from the Japanese assembly line.
